To confide in someone, reveal what's in your heart, especially worries or personal matters.
The most direct equivalent. Used when someone finally shares their inner thoughts or feelings with another person.
彼女はやっと心を開いて、悩みを話してくれた。
She finally opened her heart and told me her troubles.
Literally 'reveal what's inside one's chest.' A slightly more literary way to say confide or open up.
彼は親友に胸の内を明かした。
He opened his heart to his close friend.
To confide or confess something personal. Often used with a specific secret or worry.

To speak openly, without pretense, often in a discussion or relationship.

Literally 'allow one's heart.' Means to let one's guard down and trust someone completely.

Rarely used in a literal or metaphorical sense related to physical heart opening or spiritual awakening.

Do not use 心臓を開く (しんぞうをひらく) for emotional openness; it means open-heart surgery. Use 心を開く or other phrases above.
心を開く is about emotional opening up, often one-sided. 腹を割って話す implies a mutual, frank conversation. Choose based on whether the focus is on sharing feelings or having an honest dialogue.
