The English word 'remonstrance' is quite formal and rare. In most everyday situations, simpler words like 'complaint' or 'protest' are used. When translating into Japanese, choose the term that matches the level of formality and context. Using overly formal terms like 諌言 in casual conversation would sound unnatural.
抗議 is a general protest against an action or decision, while 異議 is an objection raised in a formal setting like a meeting or court. Use 異議 when you want to formally disagree with a specific point.
