exhaust, use up, run out of, deplete, befriend, serve
尽 centers on reaching the end of a resource or capacity: exhausting, using up, or depleting something completely. The less common senses of befriending or serving are extensions of giving one's all to a person or task.
尽 is the modern simplified form of 盡. The older form depicts a hand holding a brush over a vessel, suggesting cleaning or emptying it completely. The modern form is a simplification that retains the idea of finishing or using up.
The outer 尺 looks like a measuring container, and the inner 冫 looks like the last drops inside. Picture a container being emptied until nothing is left: 尽 means to exhaust or use up.
For ジン, imagine a gin bottle being completely emptied: gin -> ジン, and the last drop is used up.
