Used after a noun, especially in questions, to suggest a possible thing, reason, problem, errand, complaint, etc. indirectly: 'some ... or something.' This is a softer or probing use of でも plus ある.
何か理由でもあるのですか。
Is there some reason or something?
彼に不満でもあるの?
Do you have some complaint about him or something?
