Attaches to the stem of an adjective or the -masu stem of a verb to mean 'looking very ...' or 'seeming quite ...'. Used in casual, often slightly negative or emphatic descriptions. Common in dialects such as Kansai-ben, but also found in colloquial standard Japanese.
あの店、高そうで入りにくいけど、入ってみたら意外と安かった。でも、やっぱりちょっと高ぼったい感じはする。
That shop looked expensive and hard to enter, but when I went in it was surprisingly cheap. Still, it does feel a bit pricey-looking.
彼の説明はいつも難しぼったくて、よくわからない。
His explanations always sound really difficult and I don't quite get them.
