dora; bonus tile
In mahjong, a tile that adds extra han to a winning hand. The dora indicator is revealed after the deal, and each tile of the next suit/number becomes a dora.
I had three dora tiles, so it became a high-scoring hand.
Usage patterns
- 〈物〉がドラになるfor a tile to become the dora (bonus tile)
The next tile became the dora.
- ドラを乗せるto add a dora tile to one's winning hand
