katakana repetition mark
A typographic symbol used in vertical Japanese text to repeat the preceding katakana character. Equivalent to 一の字点 (いちのじてん).

In vertical katakana writing, 'ハヽ' is written and read as 'ハハ'.
ヽ is the katakana unvoiced repetition mark, whereas ゞ is the hiragana voiced repetition mark, so they differ both in script and in voicing.
ヾ adds a dakuten (voicing) to the repeated katakana sound, whereas ヽ simply repeats the previous katakana without voicing.
Derived from the cursive form of the kanji 同 (same), used as a repetition mark in Japanese writing.
