Used when an unexpected or ironic result occurs precisely because of the stated reason. Often followed by a negative or surprising outcome.
好きなだけに、嫌いになったときの反動が大きい。
Precisely because I liked it, the backlash when I started to hate it was huge.
期待が大きかっただけに、失望も大きかった。
All the more because expectations were high, the disappointment was great.

Used in the pattern AがAだけに to emphasize that the very nature of A leads to a certain outcome, often with a sense of inevitability.
この問題は問題だけに、簡単には解決できない。
This problem, being what it is, cannot be solved easily.
