Archaic term for a relationship where a person, especially a man, becomes romantically involved with someone of higher social status. Not used in modern Japanese.
古典文学には、身分違いの恋として上淫が描かれることがある。
In classical literature, 上淫 is sometimes depicted as a love affair across class boundaries.
