Archaic word meaning 'midway through' or 'halfway'. In modern Japanese, 途中 (とちゅう) or 半ば (なかば) are used instead.

• 古こ典てんの文ぶん章しょうでは、「中なか度たび」を「なかたび」と読よんで、道みちの半なかばを表あらわすことがある。

  In classical texts, 中度 is read as なかたび and can mean the middle of a journey.
