Historical term used in the Edo period to refer to the second-ranked licensed red-light district in a city, or by extension something of lower quality. Rare in modern Japanese.

• 江え戸ど時じ代だい、二にの町まちは吉よし原わらに次つぐ遊ゆう郭かくだった。

  In the Edo period, the second-ranked district was a red-light area next to Yoshiwara.

• この品しなは二にの町まちだ。

  This item is second-rate.
