Historical term for a public official stationed in the capital under the ritsuryō system. Not used in modern contexts.
律令制下では、京官は地方官よりも高い地位とみなされていた。
Under the ritsuryō system, capital officials were regarded as having higher status than provincial officials.
Refers to officials stationed in the provinces, in contrast to 京官 who served in the capital.
