内うち神がみ

Shinto term used in Kyushu dialect for a protective deity or an ancestor worshipped as a kami. Not widely used in standard Japanese.

• 九きゅう州しゅうの一いち部ぶでは、家いえを守まもる内うち神がみを祀まつる習しゅう慣かんがある。

  In parts of Kyushu, there is a custom of enshrining a patron god (uchigami) that protects the household.

• その集しゅう落らくでは、先せん祖ぞを内うち神がみとして祭まつっている。

  In that village, they worship their ancestors as deified kami (uchigami).
