刺しを通つうずる

Rare, formal expression from an era when visiting cards were used in social calls. The verb 通ずる is an older alternative form of 通じる. Modern Japanese would more commonly use 名刺を出す or 名刺を渡す.

• 昔むかしの小しょう説せつには、訪ほう問もん時じに「刺しを通つうずる」という表ひょう現げんがよく出でてくる。

  In old novels, the expression '刺を通ずる' often appears when someone visits and presents their card.
