Archaic term for someone from the same region or province. This sense is also obsolete.

• 江え戸ど時じ代だいには、同おなじ国くにから来きた者ものを「国くに者もの」と呼よぶことがあった。

  In the Edo period, people from the same province were sometimes called '国者'.
