Archaic poetic word for clouds, especially in classical Japanese poetry and literature. Not used in modern everyday speech.
In the Man'yōshū, there is the expression 'to the farthest reaches where the clouds in the sky lie low'.

Compound of 天 (ama, 'sky, heavens') and 雲 (kumo, 'cloud'). The rendaku reading あまぐも is a common voicing phenomenon in compounds.
