Archaic intransitive godan verb. Used in classical Japanese to describe things that pair up or correspond to each other. Not used in modern speech.
古語では、「対す」は二つのものが一組になることを表した。
In classical Japanese, 対す expressed that two things form a pair.
Modern equivalent meaning 'to face, to be opposite, to correspond to'. 対す is its archaic predecessor.
Classical Japanese verb; the exact derivation is uncertain. It is the older form of modern 対する (たいする).
