Used in educational contexts when a student applies exclusively to one school, often with a strong commitment to attend if accepted. Contrasts with 併願 (へいがん, applying to multiple schools).

• 彼かれは第だい一いち志し望ぼうの大だい学がくに専せん願がんで出しゅつ願がんした。

  He applied to his first-choice university as a single application.

• 専せん願がん入にゅう試しは合ごう格かくしたら必かならず入にゅう学がくしなければならない。
