Idiomatic expression referring to things that are so similar they are hard to tell apart, derived from the visual resemblance of the four kanji characters 已, 己, 巳, and 己.

• この二ふたつの案あんは已い己こ巳み己きで、どちらを選えらんでも大たい差さない。

  These two proposals are all the same; it doesn't make much difference which one we choose.

• 彼かれの言いい訳わけはいつも已い己こ巳み己きだ。

  His excuses are always much of a muchness.
