person going away; departing person
Literary or classical term for someone who is leaving or has left. Not used in casual conversation.
I recalled a line from an old Chinese poem about seeing off a departing person.
Classical expression for past times or things that have passed. Often contrasted with 来者 (らいしゃ, 'the future' or 'those who come').

There is a saying: 'Look to the past to know the future.'
