oblique case
Linguistics term for any grammatical case other than the nominative (or unmarked) case. Used in discussions of case systems, especially in contrast to 主格 (nominative).
In Japanese, the oblique case is often expressed by particles like に or を.
In this language, the oblique case and the nominative case are morphologically distinguished.
