Historical Japanese unit equal to 6 shaku; used in traditional architecture and land measurement. Not used in modern everyday contexts.

• この古ふるい家いえの柱はしら間まは本ほん間けんで測はかられている。

  The pillar spacing in this old house is measured in honken.

• 一いっ間けんは六ろく尺しゃくで、本ほん間けんとも呼よばれる。

  One ken is six shaku, also called honken.
