moving houses (of a nobleman)
Archaic term for a nobleman or high-ranking person relocating their residence. Not used in modern Japanese; encountered only in historical texts.

Compound of 殿 (との, 'lord, nobleman') and 移り (うつり, 'moving, transfer'). The exact historical derivation is uncertain, but it reflects a period when moving was a notable event for the nobility.
