awamori; Okinawan distilled liquor
A strong distilled spirit from Okinawa, traditionally made from long-grain indica rice (often Thai rice) and black koji mold. Distinct from shochu.
I bought some awamori on my trip to Okinawa.
Awamori is often drunk mixed with water or hot water.
