achromatic color; neutral color
Technical term in color theory for colors without hue, such as white, black, and grays. Often contrasted with 有彩色 (chromatic colors).

Compound of 無 (mu, 'without') and 彩色 (saishoku, 'coloring'). The term is a direct calque from Western color theory terminology.
