expression, noun
narrow-sense heritability
Technical term in quantitative genetics; the proportion of phenotypic variance due to additive genetic effects. Contrasts with 広義の遺伝率 (broad-sense heritability).
狭義の遺伝率は相加的遺伝分散の割合を示す。
Narrow-sense heritability indicates the proportion of additive genetic variance.
育種では狭義の遺伝率が重要な指標となる。
In breeding, narrow-sense heritability is an important index.
Broad-sense heritability includes all genetic effects (additive, dominance, epistatic), while narrow-sense heritability considers only additive effects.
Compound of 狭義 (narrow sense) + の (possessive particle) + 遺伝率 (heritability). A direct calque from English 'narrow-sense heritability'.
