Usage patterns

• 〈人ひと〉は〈人ひと〉の甥おいにあたるto be someone's nephew (in terms of family relation)

  彼かれは私わたしの甥おいにあたります。

  He is my nephew.

• 〈人ひと〉に甥おいができるto gain a nephew (through a sibling's childbirth)

  去きょ年ねん、姉あねに甥おいができた。

  Last year my older sister had a baby, and I gained a nephew.
