A small piece of paper used for notes, labels, or tags. Often found in compounds like 付箋 (sticky note) or 処方箋 (prescription).

The kanji 箋 originally referred to bamboo slips used for writing in ancient China. The reading せん is the on'yomi. The variant 籤 shares the same reading and similar meaning but is less common.
