ceremonial gift cloth (Buddhist)
A cloth traditionally used as a gift or wrapping in Buddhist ceremonies, often associated with funerals or memorial services.
At the funeral, I brought a 精進袱紗 wrapped up.
The term combines 精進 (devotion, abstinence) and 袱紗 (a small cloth used for wrapping). The exact historical derivation is uncertain, but it is conventionally associated with Buddhist ceremonial use.
