distantly related; having a distant relationship
Describes a blood relationship or family tie that is not close; often used for relatives one rarely sees or has little connection with. Also appears as 縁の遠い.

He is a distantly related relative, so I've hardly ever met him.
Sometimes neighbors and friends are more reliable than distantly related family.
