Archaic term for a snack or light food eaten between meals. Not used in modern Japanese; the common word is おやつ or 間食.

• 江え戸ど時じ代だいの文ぶん献けんには「間あいだ物もの」という言こと葉ばが菓か子しや軽けい食しょくを指さして使つかわれている。

  In Edo-period documents, the word 間物 is used to refer to sweets or light snacks.
