Kamchatka stonecrop
A species of succulent plant (Sedum kamtschaticum) native to East Asia, often used as ground cover or in rock gardens.
When I planted Kamchatka stonecrop in the garden, many yellow flowers bloomed.
Usually written in katakana; the kanji form 麒麟草 is rare.
Kanji spelling; rarely used. The katakana form is strongly preferred.
The name キリンソウ (麒麟草) literally means 'giraffe plant', but the exact origin of the name is uncertain. It may refer to the plant's appearance or be a phonetic borrowing.
