Used when someone is so absorbed in a person, hobby, or activity that they lose touch with reality or neglect other things. Often takes the pattern ～にうつつを抜かす.

• 彼かれは最さい近きん、新あたらしいゲームにうつつを抜ぬかしている。

  Lately he's been completely absorbed in a new game.

• 恋こいにうつつを抜ぬかして仕し事ごとが手てにつかない。

  I'm so smitten with love that I can't focus on work.
