Expresses mild surprise, astonishment, or dismay, often with a slightly old-fashioned or feminine feel. Similar to あらまあ but softer.

• おやまあ、こんなところで会あうなんて。

  Oh my, fancy meeting you here!

• おやまあ、それは大たい変へんでしたね。

  Oh dear, that must have been tough.
