Used for the rhythmic, synchronized clapping at the end of a meeting or ceremony, often associated with 手締め.

Describes a person, especially an older person, who is in good health and energetically going about their business. Also used for concluding something smoothly.

• 祖そ父ふは90歳さいだが、まだしゃんしゃんしている。

  My grandfather is 90, but he's still hale and hearty.

• 彼かの女じょは仕し事ごとをしゃんしゃんと片かた付づけた。

  She handled the work briskly and efficiently.

Archaic onomatopoeia for the sound of boiling water. Rarely used in modern Japanese.

• 昔むかしの文ぶん献けんには、湯ゆがしゃんしゃんと沸わく様よう子すが記しるされている。

  Old documents describe water boiling with a 'shanshan' sound.
