Usage patterns

• もしもし、〈人ひと〉ですかhello, is this [person]? (used when answering or making a phone call)

  もしもし、田た中なかさんですか。

  Hello, is this Mr. Tanaka?

• もしもし、〈事こと〉hey, [something] (calling out to get someone's attention before saying something)

  もしもし、荷に物もつが落おちましたよ。

  Hey, you dropped your bag!

• もしもし、聞きこえますかhello, can you hear me? (checking a phone connection)

  もしもし、聞きこえますか。電でん波ぱが悪わるいみたいです。

  Hello, can you hear me? The signal seems bad.
