old maid variant with joker as the odd card
A Japanese card game similar to Old Maid, but played with a standard deck where the joker (ジジ) is the unmatched card instead of a queen. The name literally means 'pulling out the old man'.

When I was a child, I often played Jiji-nuki.
In Jiji-nuki, the person left holding the joker at the end loses.
Rare kanji form; the katakana spelling is overwhelmingly more common.
From ジジ (jiji, 'old man', a nickname for the joker) + 抜き (nuki, 'pulling out'), referring to the game mechanic of drawing and discarding pairs, with the joker as the losing card.
