Usage patterns

• 〈物もの〉にワックスをかけるto apply wax to something (a car, floor, etc.)

  週しゅう末まつに車くるまにワックスをかけた。

  I waxed my car over the weekend.

• ワックスを塗ぬるto spread/apply wax

  床ゆかにワックスを塗ぬって光ひからせた。

  I applied wax to the floor to make it shine.

• 髪かみにワックスをつけるto put wax on one's hair

  彼かれは毎まい朝あさ髪かみにワックスをつける。

  He puts wax in his hair every morning.

• ワックスが取とれるfor wax to wear off or come off

  しばらくすると車くるまのワックスが取とれてしまった。

  After a while, the wax on the car wore off.
