上じょう蔟ぞく

Technical term in sericulture referring to the process where mature silkworms are transferred to special frames (蔟) to spin their cocoons. Also used for the transformation to the pupa stage.

• 蚕かいこが熟じゅくすると、上じょう蔟ぞくの作さ業ぎょうが始はじまる。

  When the silkworms mature, the mounting process begins.

• 上じょう蔟ぞく後ご、約やく一いっ週しゅう間かんで繭まゆが完かん成せいする。

  After mounting, the cocoons are completed in about a week.
