agnostic
A person who holds the philosophical view that the existence of God or ultimate reality is unknown and probably unknowable. Used in religious and philosophical contexts.
He is an agnostic and suspends judgment on the existence of God.
Formed from 不可知論, “agnosticism,” and 者, “person.” 不可知論 was adopted as the Japanese equivalent of the Western philosophical term agnosticism.
