Historical term for a room where attendants or servants waited, especially in samurai residences or noble households. Not used in modern everyday contexts.
In samurai residences of the Edo period, there was a room called a tomomachi (attendant's waiting room).

The retainers waited in the attendant's waiting room for their master's return.
