Historical term for a woman who engaged in prostitution without official authorization during the Edo period. Not used in modern Japanese outside historical contexts.
江戸時代には、出女と呼ばれる無許可の遊女がいた。
In the Edo period, there were unlicensed prostitutes called deonna.
