The semitendinosus muscle is located on the medial side of the posterior thigh.
半膜様筋 (semimembranosus) is another hamstring muscle, located medial to the semitendinosus.
大腿二頭筋 (biceps femoris) is the lateral hamstring muscle, while 半腱様筋 is medial.
Compound of 半 (half), 腱 (tendon), 様 (like), and 筋 (muscle), describing a muscle that is tendinous for about half its length.
