Esq., way, manner, situation, polite suffix
様 centers on the outward form or appearance of something, which extends naturally to a way, manner, or situation. The polite suffix sense is a grammaticalized use of that same idea of form or appearance.
様 is the modern simplified form of 樣. The older form combines 木 (tree) with 羕, which likely contributed the sound and the idea of appearance or form. The modern right side is a simplification.
The left side is a tree 木, and the right side looks like a sheep 羊 with extra strokes. Picture a sheep resting under a tree in a particular manner or situation.
For ヨウ, imagine a sheep under the tree saying 'yo!' in a polite manner: yo -> ヨウ.
