critical; in crisis
Describes a situation, state, or condition that is extremely serious or at a decisive turning point. Often used with nouns like 状況, 状態, or 段階.

危機的 describes a critical or dangerous stage that could still be reversed, while 末期的 implies decline so severe it seems beyond recovery.
危機的 means critical in the sense of dangerous or crisis-like, whereas 臨界 means critical in the technical sense of a threshold point, not danger.
Formed from 危機, “crisis,” and the Sino-Japanese suffix 的, which makes adjectival nouns meaning “of, relating to, or characterized by.”
