Used for ritualistic or superstitious removal of bad luck, evil spirits, or misfortune. Often associated with Shinto or Buddhist practices, but can be used more loosely.

• 神じん社じゃでお祓はらいをしてもらって厄やくを落おとした。

  I had a purification ritual performed at the shrine to ward off evil.

• 厄やく年どしには厄やくを落おとすために神じん社じゃに行いく人ひとが多おおい。
