Refers to flattering or deceptive talk used to manipulate someone. Almost exclusively appears in the idiom 口車に乗る (to be taken in by smooth talk) or 口車に乗せる (to talk someone into something).
I was taken in by his smooth talk and ended up signing the contract.
I was talked into buying an expensive vacuum cleaner by that salesman's wheedling.
