Used primarily in formal vertical writing to refer to the text written to the right (i.e., earlier in the document). Equivalent to 上記 in horizontal writing.

As stated above (to the right), the meeting has been postponed.

Details are as described above (to the right).
左記 refers to text that follows (traditionally to the left), while 右記 refers to text already mentioned (traditionally to the right).
Compound of 右 (right) and 記 (record/writing). In traditional vertical writing, text proceeds from right to left, so 'right' refers to earlier content.
