嫁よめに行いく

get married (of a woman); marry into a family; become a bride

Traditional expression for a woman marrying and moving into the husband's household. Often implies leaving one's own family. Still used in modern Japanese, though 結婚する is more neutral.

• 彼かの女じょは去きょ年ねん、幼おさななじみの家いえに嫁よめに行いった。

  She married into her childhood friend's family last year.

• 娘むすめが嫁よめに行いく日ひは、嬉うれしいけれど寂さびしい。

  The day my daughter goes off to be a bride is happy but lonely.
