Archaic term for a government official, especially of low to medium rank. Not used in modern Japanese; replaced by words like 公務員 or 官僚.

• 平へい安あん時じ代だいの官かん人にんは、位い階かいに応おうじて職しょく務むが決きめられていた。

  In the Heian period, government officials were assigned duties according to their rank.

• この古こ文もん書じょには、下か級きゅうの官かん人にんの名な前まえが記しるされている。
